I was fishing in the weedy backwater of a lake yesterday when I got a big bite next to some lilypads. I began reeling in and got to see the head of a very big bass. Unfortunately, my line snapped and the fish got free just a few steps away from me.
I went for another pole and went back to the same spot and fished it for 2 hours with no other bites.

My question is: In a case like this does the fish go back to the area it was in when it took the bait or does it just fly off to another locale. Is it worth it to fish the same area in the hope of finding the fish again?
I was using a 7inch fake worm.

This happened @ Winchester lake in Ct.
**It was a bass

I have a 55 gallon tank with 16 different species of cichilds in it (1 of each) and 5 other fish (pictus spotted catfish, gar, rainbow shark, flying fox, and pleco). I noticed seeing some babies about a week ago, so I got a floating breeder today to keep them from getting eaten and have been catching the babies and putting them in that for the time being. So far I have caught 8 babies, 1/2 centimeter to a centimeter long. I had to tear apart the rock formation in the middle of my tank to get them. The sides have plastic trees/logs. I have a few questions, since these are my first babies.

1) How many babies should I expect?
2) How do I tell who the parents are? (Remember I have no two of the same fish, and the babies are mostly clear with small stripes on them. I never saw any eggs but I did have a Green Terror that didn’t eat for the past 3 weeks but now is, not sure if that’s related or not)
3) What do I do with the babies? I was planning on putting them in a new 10 gallon. Will that tank need to cycle if I use rocks and water from my established 55 gallon?
4) How long should I keep them in the small 3 way breeder (with dividers taken out so its just one floating whole now)?

And any other advise would be appreciated. Thanks!
Here is my tank a couple of months ago or so:
